Profiling innovative life science and medtech companies | MedCity
Our content development work with MedCity over many years saw us research and interview around 35 life science companies working at the cutting edge of health innovation.
From start ups and academic spin out companies to innovative cross-sector partnerships – all were doing something new and different in the London area.
The challenge
Shine a spotlight on innovation in the London region
MedCity is the cluster organisation for the life sciences and health sector in London and the greater southeast, founded by the Mayor of London and the city's Academic Health Science Centres to promote and support the sector. It acts as a ‘front door’ linking industry, academia, and the NHS to foster innovation, investment, and collaboration across the region and beyond.
The organisation wanted to find a way to profile the many life science companies they supported, showcasing their work and inviting new opportunities while also demonstrating the impact of MedCity’s support and network. With MedCity’s readership spanning a wide range of knowledge and understanding about life sciences, a big part of the challenge was to help companies explain their often complex technologies to a broad audience.
What we did
Creating a life science company of the month series
Our monthly ‘company of the month’ articles contributed a feed of content for the MedCity website and their monthly newsletter, showcasing the amazing work going on across the region.
Following up on suggestions from the MedCity team, we researched innovations and interviewed company founders to create monthly profiles for the newsletter. We created a pipeline of content, often with several profiles in development at any one time.
This long form content allowed for detailed exploration of the ideas, products and innovations being developed, explaining how each company had been developed and funded and had worked through challenges in their development so far. The profiles were designed to showcase the companies, but also to inform and inspire other start ups in the space.
The outcome
Profiles of 35 life science and medtech innovations
Between 2020 and June 2023 (when MedCity moved over to become part of London&Partners) we researched and wrote over 35 profiles of innovative life science companies spanning everything from medtech, telehealth and wearable medical devices to biopharmaceuticals, biomaterials and precision medicines.
